Two “Best in Show” awards were given to wines from Santorini – The unique Greek platinum medal of the competition was won by a wine from Therasia
Santorini wines won important awards again at the Decanter Wine Competition for 2023 (Decanter World Wine Awards 2023), the results of which were announced today (7/6).
Counting 20 years of presence this year, this particular competition is considered one of the largest and most influential in the world. During the competition, 236 wine experts from 30 countries around the world, including 53 Masters of Wine and 16 Master Sommeliers, blind-tasted 18,250 wines – a record number for the competition – from 57 countries and awarded 50 of them with the “Best in Show” distinction, as well as 124 platinum medals, 704 gold medals, 5,591 silver medals and 8,152 bronze medals.
Confirming once again the great dynamics of the Theraic vineyard, Santorini wines won a total of 42 awards: 2 Best in Show (the only ones awarded to Greek wines – a record performance for Greek wine in the history of the competition), 1 platinum medal (also unique to Greek wine), 4 gold medals, 21 silver medals and 14 bronze medals.
